Lois J Baker, age 76, of Hanover, IL, passed away Monday, June 15th, at Midwest Medical Center in Galena, IL. A private family funeral service will be held at St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Hanover.
Lois was born May 9th, 1944, daughter of Earl and Linnie (Hayes) Croffoot. She grew up in Hanover, attending Hanover schools. Lois graduated from Hanover High School with the class of 1962. Later in her life Lois met Jake Baker, a police officer from Thomson, IL. The two of them hit it off and married in 1974. The couple celebrated 19 years of marriage, until Jake’s passing in 1993.
Lois was very active in her community. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, Community of Christian Meals, and St. Pauls Lutheran Church. She volunteered at the food pantry and worked at the farmers market as well. Lois was also treasurer for both the Hanover Ambulance and The Hanover Alumni Association. Around the community she was know to be charitable with her talents and time.
Lois will be dearly missed by her two siblings, Karl Croffoot of Huachua City, AZ, and Linda Reitz of Hanover; many nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews; and good friend, Kenny Bearsley. Lois is preceded in death by her siblings, Keith and Lucille, and her nephews Daryl Reitz and Mickey Croffoot
