Lano Louis Frank, age 73, of Mt. Carroll, Illinois died, Wednesday, December 19, 2007, at UW Hospitals, Madison, Wisconsin. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 23, 2007, at the First Baptist Church, Mt. Carroll, Illinois with Pastor Bob Ziebarth officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Mt. Carroll. A visitation will be held 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. Saturday, December 22, 2007 at the Frank-Law-Jones Funeral Home, Mt. Carroll. A memorial fund has been established in Lano’s name.
Lano was born January 10, 1934, in Chadwick, Illinois the son, of Louis A. and Lydia M. (Stadel) Frank. He graduated from the Chadwick High School, class of 1951 and went on to graduate from the University of Illinois with a B.S. in Business in 1955. Lano also played trombone for the University of Illinois marching band where he played in the 1952 Rose Bowl. Lano served in the United States Army during the Korean War and then returned home and attended the Worsham College of Mortuary Science in Chicago, Illinois. On December 27, 1959, Lano married Lois Marie Hammen in Savanna, Illinois.
Lano owned and operated Frank Furniture and Funeral Homes in Mt. Carroll and Chadwick with his brother, Sheldon. When they retired, the business had been in the family for over one hundred years. Lano was a member of the First Baptist Church, the Lions Club and the Mayfest Steering Committee, all of Mt. Carroll. He was an avid fan of the Chicago White Sox Baseball Team.
Lano will be dearly missed by his wife, Lois of Mt. Carroll; a son, Lindsay (Delfa) Frank of Bell, California; a daughter, Liane (John) Ashenfelter of Bloomington, Illinois; two grandchildren, Elise and Zachary; and a brother Sheldon (Virginia) Frank of Mt. Carroll. Lano was preceded in death by both parents.
