K. Don Richardson was a farm boy who left Missouri to join WWII and came home to help build this country following the war. He entered into eternity at the age of 91 on Wednesday, February 11, 2015, at the University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin. A celebration of Don’s life will be held 7:00 p.m. Monday, February 16, 2015, at Law-Jones Funeral Home in Savanna, Illinois. Military rites will be accorded by the Savanna VFW Post # 2223. A visitation will be held 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Monday, February 16, 2015, at Law-Jones Funeral Home in Savanna. A time of sharing will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 18, 2015, at the Bethany Memorial Chapel in Bethany, Missouri. Burial will take place at Lloyd Cemetery in Mt. Moriah, Missouri. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in Don’s memory.
Don was born November 16, 1923, the son of James and Nancy (Runyon) Richardson in Ridgeway, Missouri. He attended Gilman City High School in Gilman, Missouri. Don honorably served his country in the United States Navy during WWII. He worked as an electrician for the IBEW Local 145 in Moline, Illinois for thirty-five years until his retirement.
Don married Garnette Meek in 1946, they later divorced. Don married Thelma Cochrane in 1994, she passed away January 7, 2013. Don was a member of the Elks Lodge and the VFW.
Don is survived by his two sons, Tom (Johnna) Richardson of Thomson, Illinois, Randall (Trudy) Richardson of Ledyard, Connecticut; two daughters, Donna (John) Gottschalkson of Lake Forrest, California, Joyce McHenry of Mt. Carroll, Illinois; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren; a sister, Gayle Wigglesworth of Clarksville, Missouri, and many nieces and nephews. Don is preceded in death by his parents; nine siblings, and a grandson.
