James R. Simpson-Ostendorf age 63, of Savanna, Illinois, passed away Friday, May 4, 2018 at Mercy Medical Center in Clinton, Iowa. A celebration of James life will take place at a later date. Cremation rites have been accorded.
James was born on August 26, 1954 in Savanna, the son of William Simpson and Sonya (Francis Ostendorf) Ames. James drove truck for Frey-Miller Trucking in Shullsburg, Wisconsin, before becoming an over the road truck driver. He later owned and operated Able Electric in Savanna. James received his bachelor’s degree in business in July of 2009.
James married the love of his life Sherry Yenney on September 29, 1979 in Mt. Carroll at the Mt. Carroll Church of God. They Celebrated 38 years together. James enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time on the computer. Most of all, James cherished the time he spent at cookouts with his family, especially his grandkids.
James will be dearly missed by his wife; daughter, Tina (John Bentley) Ostendorf of Thomson, Illinois; son, Kyle (Trisha) Ostendorf of Savanna; eight grandchildren, Chase, MacKenzie and Lucas and Aubreigh Bentley, Kloey and Karson Ostendorf, Adrianna VanPelt, Bryson Eganhouse and many brothers and sisters. James was preceded in death by his step-father Francis; step-mother, Nancy Simpson and a brother, Tom Ostendorf.
