George R. McCoy, age 62 of Elizabeth, Illinois passed away on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque, Iowa. Cremation rites will be accorded and private services will be held.
George was born on May 13, 1952, the son of George and Carol (McGiniss) McCoy in Savanna, Illinois. George attended Savanna High School and graduated with the Class of 1970. He drove truck for many years for Sheppard’s Trucking. George married the love of his life Vicki Allen on August 29, 1994 at the Derinda Lutheran Church in rural Elizabeth. Vicki passed away on March 28, 2014 in Elizabeth.
George had a passion for tinkering on small engine repairs. He enjoyed fishing, taking buggy rides to the back forty, and a pork chop in a can. Most of all, George cherished the time he spent camping with family and friends at his farm. George will be dearly missed by his four children, Pamela (Kenny) McEowen of Elizabeth, Debra (Joe) Dauen of Clinton, Iowa, Ang Esmerelda Steen of Elizabeth, Steven (Wendy) Weis of Clinton, Dawn (Gary) Farrell; ten grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and a sister, Patricia Hergert of Clinton, Iowa. George is preceded in death by wife, Vicki; a sister, Donna and his mother, Carol.
