Florence R. Tripp, age 92, of Chadwick, Illinois, passed away Thursday, April 12, 2018, at Resthave Home, Morrison, Illinois. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, April 16, 2018, at the Chadwick First Lutheran Church. Burial will take place in Chadwick Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, April 15, 2018, at the church. Memorials may be made in Florence’s name to the Resthave Home, Morrison.
Florence was born on March 16, 1926, at home in Fairhaven Township, Illinois, the daughter of Charles and Flossie (Hiller) Adolph. She attended Chadwick High School and graduated with the Class of 1944. On February 7, 1946, Florence married Kenneth Tripp at the Chadwick First Lutheran Church. They celebrated 53 years of marriage before Kenneth’s passing on March 18, 1999.
Florence was a homemaker who cherished her family and helping her husband on the family farm. She was a longtime member of the Chadwick First Lutheran Church, the Chadwick Women’s Club, Chadwick Lamplighters Home Extension and the Red Hatters. She enjoyed knitting, cross-stitch, playing cards, especially Bridge. She also enjoyed the outdoors, especially gardening and golfing with her husband, Kenneth. After retirement, Florence and Kenneth enjoyed wintering in Lake Okeechobee, Florida.
Florence will be dearly missed by her daughter, Marcia (Evan) Haag of Morrison, Illinois; two granddaughters, Elizabeth (Jarod) Schroeder of Evanston, Illinois, and Stephanie (Josh) Hughes of Grand Rapids, Michigan; two great-grandsons, Tate and Turner Schroeder of Evanston, Illinois; and a sister, Lois King of Morrison, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; her parents; a brother, Donald “Bub” Adolph; and a sister, Phyllis Venhuizen.
