Doris M. Schaible, age 75, of Freeport, Illinois, formerly of Hanover, Illinois, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, May 23, 2019 at FHN Memorial Hospital in Freeport. Her visitation will be held from 7:00-9:00 p.m., Monday, May 27, 2019 at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Hanover. Her funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Hanover. Burial will take place in Evergreen Cemetery, Hanover. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Paul Lutheran Church and other local organizations in Doris’ memory.
Doris was born at home on January 1, 1944, the daughter of Ralph and Viola (Krug) Schaible in Derinda, Illinois. She attended Hanover High School and graduated with the Class of 1961. After graduation, Doris ventured out to begin her professional career with Economy Insurance in Freeport. After working with Economy Insurance for six years, Doris began working for the Eaton Corporation in Hanover. She continued to work for the Eaton Corporation for thirty years, before retiring in 1998. After retirement, Doris moved to Freeport to be closer to her son, Stephen and began working part-time at the Freeport Journal Standard Newspaper. Doris was a member of the Hanover VFW Auxiliary and the St. Paul Lutheran Church, where she was a past Sunday School Superintendent. She also loved golfing and playing softball in her younger years. Doris was a true professional at all times and places throughout her career. Doris’ pride and joy was her family, especially her two grandchildren Samuel Thomas and Finnley Elizabeth. Most of all, Doris cherished spending time with her close friends and family.
Doris will be dearly missed by her entire family, including her son, Steve (Kelli) Schaible and two grandchildren, Samuel and Finnley, all of Pearl City, Illinois; two brothers, Bob (Kay) Schaible of Adamsville, Tennessee and Don (Barb) Schaible of Hanover; one sister, Carole (Jack) Murphy of Blue Grass, Iowa; two nieces, Tracy (Tom) McClain and Joanie (Mark) Montoya; five nephews, Todd (Stephanie) Schaible, Mike (Jennifer) Schaible, Cary (Heidi) Murphy, Ryan (Ashley) Schaible, and Jeff (Abbey) Schaible; and twenty great nieces and nephews. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Viola.
Doris lived her life to the fullest. She served as an example of great strength, courage and everlasting optimism and was a comfort to all who knew her. Here’s to a life well lived—a good and faithful servant of the Lord.
