A memorial service for Doris Ella Menzemer, 92, of Elizabeth, will begin at 11 a.m. on May 18 in the Elizabeth United Methodist Church.

Doris died on Dec. 6, 2018, in the Elizabeth Nursing Home, where she had been a resident for two years. Law-Jones Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Elizabeth United Methodist Church.

Doris was born July 21, 1926, on the family farm east of Elizabeth. She was the daughter of Charles and Winnie (Logan) Prisk. She was a graduate of Elizabeth High School. On Dec. 9, 1947, Doris was married to Blanchard B. Menzemer, in the Elizabeth United Methodist Church. Blanchard died Feb. 29, 2000.

Doris loved the farm and enjoyed raising chickens and caring for her horse, Ginger. She was an accomplished seamstress
making and altering garments for her customers. Doris also worked for Sullivan’s Insurance in Elizabeth for many years. She was a longtime member of the Elizabeth United Methodist Church.

Surviving are a niece, Becky Pierce, Thomson; two nephews, Robert (Janet) Arnold, Sterling, and James (Deb) Arnold, Stockton; several great nieces and nephews; and a close friend, Art Marcotte, Elizabeth.

Besides her husband, Doris was preceded in death by three sisters, Lois Prisk, Evelyn (Ralph) Arnold and an infant sister.
