David was born to the late Willis and Ruby (Taylor) DeLarm on September 22nd, 1932 in Scott County. He served in the Korean War from 1952 to 1954. He was united in marriage to Phyllis A. Baker on June 1, 1957 at the Salem Lutheran Church in Spragueville, Iowa. He fathered six daughters, Sheila Starr of Maquoketa, Iowa, Sherry (Bill) Bonney of Maquoketa, Sallie Ruff of Maquoketa, Sarah (Ted) Hacker of Dubuque, Iowa, Sandra (Calvin) Mangler of Oxford Junction, Iowa, and Sonya (Dennis) Ellison of Anamosa, Iowa. He will be sadly missed by his wife and family.
David was a loving husband and father. He was a hardworking, simple man who raised his family on a dairy farm that he was proud of. He enjoyed raising longhorn cattle and chickens, fishing in his farm ponds, listening to the frogs on his patio and gardening, especially his turnip patch. He loved riding and breaking his own horses, coon hunting (he was one of the best), four-wheeling, Wild Irish Rose wine, fish fries and hanging out with his hunting buddies.
David is preceded in death by his parents, Willis and Ruby, one brother, Carl, and one son-in-law, David Ruff.
