Daryl “Pood” R. Reitz, age 73, of Hanover, Illinois passed away Monday, August 22, 2011 at his home. A funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m Thursday, August 25, 2011 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, Hanover, with Reverend David Vidler officiating. Cremation Rites will be accorded following the funeral service with burial at a later date. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 24, 2011, at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, Hanover.
Daryl was born March 30, 1938, in Hanover, the son of Harold and Lois (Straitt) Reitz. He attended the Lost Mound School in rural Hanover. Daryl married Linda Croffoot on September 4, 1971, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hanover.
Daryl worked for 26 years as an Animal Control Officer for Jo Daviess County. He also worked at Chestnut Mountain Resort, operating the ski lift and running the compressors to make snow, and doing maintenance for Craig Manor in Hanover. Daryl was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hanover. He enjoyed fishing, bow hunting for deer, spending time with his grandchildren, riding around in his truck with his dog Little Bit, and taking care of his yard and watching the hummingbirds.
Daryl is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife Linda Reitz of Hanover, Illinois; two sons, Todd (Pam) Reitz of St. Petersburg, Florida, and Tracey (Rhonda) Reitz of Hanover; two daughters, Tammy (Gary) Roush of Peoria Heights, Illinois, and Kim (Bob) Hayworth of Locust Grove, Virginia; eleven grandchildren, Sydney Reitz, Todd Roush, Jonathan Roush, Michael Roush, Jada Hayworth, Alex Hayworth, Talena Lee, Alyssa Brooks, Kyle Reitz, Brittany Reitz, and Bowe Reitz; three brothers, Duane (Carolyn) Reitz of Lena, Illinois, Dennis Reitz of Hanover, and Dave (Cheryl) Reitz of Hanover; and one sister, Dalinda (Wayne) Krug of Wilton, Iowa. Daryl was preceded in death by his parents; two grandsons, Coty and Christopher Roush; one brother in – law, Jake Baker; and two sisters in – law, Ellen Reitz and Mickie Croffoot.
