Dale M. Miller

Dale M. Miller, age 62, of Miles, Iowa, passed away Friday, July 28, 2017 at his home. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at Law-Jones Funeral Home in Preston, Iowa. Burial will take place in Miles Cemetery, Miles. A visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at Law-Jones in Preston, visitation will be held for an hour prior to the service. A memorial fund has been established in Dale’s memory.
Dale was born on September 16, 1954, the son of Wilfred “Bud” Lyle and Beverly Elaine (Petersen) Miller in Savanna, Illinois. He attended Miles High School and graduated with the Class of 1973. On February 25, 1974, Dale married Jan Arey. Dale worked for the Jackson County Highway Department for 38 years, where he operated the road grader and plowed snow. Dale also farmed the family farm until 1998.
Throughout his life Dale enjoyed hunting, trail riding, snowmobiling, driving his team of mules, wagon rides in Kentucky, giving his grandkids rides on the side by side and hosting many Miller Mondays with all his friends.
Dale is survived by his son, Michael Miller of Teeds Gove, Iowa; daughter, Amanda (Jake Larson) Horst of Teeds Grove; five grandchildren, Blaine Volquardsen, Hunter Horst, Brayden, Jersey, Dawson Miller; two sisters, Sandra (Rodney) Stark of Winslow, Illinois, Shirley (Clifford) Melvin of Miles, Iowa; brother, Dennis Miller of Clinton, Iowa; nieces and nephews, Kristie and Cliff “Hotrod” Melvin and Lisa, Darrin, Jordan Miller; and many aunts and uncles. Dale will be dearly missed by all his family, friends and neighbors. Dale is preceded in death by his parents; a son, Chad Miller; brother, Duane and a sister, Sharon Miller.
