Clarence S. Skonieczny

July 24, 1939 — February 19, 2019

Clarence S. Skonieczny, age 79, of Thomson, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at Mercy Living Center in Clinton, Iowa. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 22, 2019 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Savanna. Visitation will be held from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., prior to the Mass at Antl Hall. A second visitation will also be held from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 23, 2019 at Colonial-Wojciechowski Funeral Home, 6250 North Milwaukee Ave., Chicago, Il. Burial will take place on Saturday, February 23, 2019 in St. Adalbert Catholic Cemetery in Niles.

Clarence was born on July 24, 1939, in Chicago, the son of William and Florence (Goldian) Skonieczny. He graduated from Kelvyn Park High School in Chicago. Clarence served his country for five years as a radar operator in the United States Air Force. On June 11, 1959, he married Judith Lee. Judith passed away on December 5, 2000. Clarence later remarried to Arlene (Malysiak) Schwaller on March 22, 2003 in LaGrange, Illinois.

Clarence’s 39 years of work for Littell in Schaumburg, Illinois took him all over the world. He worked as a Plant Manager and Director of Operations until his retirement in 2002. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Savanna and the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed fishing, boating, woodworking, his 1956 Oldsmobile, spending time with his family, and having a Manhattan at the end of the day.

Clarence will be dearly missed by his wife, Arlene; three children, Michael (Toni) Skonieczny of Niles, Susan (Michael) Legrady of Barrington, Illinois, and Karen (Tom Pinkerton) Simon of Ingleside, Illinois; two stepchildren, David (Susan) Schwaller of Plymouth, Montana, and Sun Yung Shin of Minneapolis, Minnesota; 11 grandchildren, Sarah (Eric), Christopher, Ryan (Lucie), Brandon, Kasey, Dennis, Michelle, Drew, Sydney, Jae and Ty; two brothers, Ron (Ellie) Skon of Peoria, Arizona and Wayne Skonieczny of Tomahawk, Wisconsin, and one sister, Dorine (Lee) Kowalski of South Elgin, Illinois.

Clarence is preceded in death by his first wife, Judith and his parents, William and Florence.
