William Patrick “Bill” Kehoe was a loving Husband, Father and Grandpa. He enjoyed being a family man and was proud of his Irish heritage. At the age of 78, Bill passed into the arms of God Tuesday, March 29, 2016 from the Manor Care Nursing Center of Liberty Village, Freeport, Illinois.
A Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Shannon, Illinois with Father Michael Bolger as Celebrant. Visitation will be 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, Mt. Carroll, Illinois with a Scripture Wake Service at 7:00 p.m.. Bill was born August 3, 1937 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of William and Mary (Campbell) Kehoe. He is a 1955 graduate of De La Salle High School. Bill entered the US Marines and served in the Phillippines and Japan., he returned home in 1958.
Over the years, Bill helped build a large family, including six children and five step-children. On August 9, 1973, Bill married Phyllis (Lange) Stevenson at the Trinity Catholic Church in Tinley Park, Illinois. Bill and Phyllis enjoyed building a good marriage and family, along with finding Lake Carroll, their “place in the country.” During these years, Bill also built a very successful Insurance Practice with Prudential Insurance for more than twenty years. He was well-known for the care he provided to his clients.
He was a member of the St. Wendelin Catholic Church in Shannon, Illinois. Bill enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He made his home at Lake Carroll a destination for family to enjoy outdoor activities like snowmobiling, boating, and biking. At the age of 60, Bill suffered a stroke, which presented a big challenge. He worked hard through the years to keep his mobility, and kept living life with energy and positiveness. He enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs, along with all sports. Bill could sing, and enjoyed being part of the Lake Carroll Choir and the Musichorale Choir. He loved to socialize and treasured going to the Clubhouse with Phyllis on Friday nights. Bill could talk to anybody and enjoyed learning about friend’s family heritage. He and Phyllis took the opportunity to travel, connecting with their own heritage in Ireland, Scotland and England. They had also visited all of the United States.
Bill will be dearly missed by his wife, Phyllis Kehoe of Lake Carroll; six children and five step-children, Marianne (Dennis) Beechy of Orland Park, Laura (Carl) Peterson of Evergreen Park, Carolyn (Tom) Galvin of Chicago, William (Susan) Kehoe of Evergreen Park, Sharon Porte of Orland Hills, Julie (Tony) Lordo of Evergreen Park, Renee (Robert) Mierop of Bolingbrook, James Stevenson of Sugar Grove, Kathleen Kornfeind of Wheaton, Harry (Jacquelyn) Stevenson of Oswego and Pamela (Tim) Roberts of Oswego; 29 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Nancy (Larry) Wilson of Chicago, Patricia Guinee of Oak Lawn and Rosemary (Donald) Hill of Oak Lawn and a brother-in-law, Roger Pote. Bill is preceded in death by both parents, a sister, Judy Pote, and a brother-in-law John Guinee.
