Betty L. Teeter, age 81, of Mt. Carroll, died Friday, December 8, 2006 at the Carroll County Good Samaritan Nursing Home. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 12, 2006 at Frank-Law-Jones Funeral Home, Mt. Carroll with Reverend Mark Harkness officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Mt. Carroll. Visitation will be held from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. Monday, December 11 at the Funeral Home. A memorial fund has been established in Betty’s name.Betty was born September 14, 1925 in Wacker, Illinois, the daughter of Max and Lola (Fulrath) Smith. She graduated from the Mt. Carroll High School with the Class of 1943. On June 12, 1947, Betty married her high school sweetheart, Gene Teeter, after his return from WWII.Betty and Gene lived in the Chicago area for 25 years where Betty worked for the Greyhound Corporation at the Chicago Board of Trade Building and the Northwestern University Placement Bureau. After their return to Mt. Carroll, Betty worked for the Mt. Carroll National Bank with her husband Gene.Betty was a member of the Mt. Carroll United Methodist Church and P.E.O. Chapter G.A.. She enjoyed playing bridge and spending time with family and friends, especially the Afternoon Coffee Club.Betty will be dearly missed by her husband, Gene of Mt. Carroll; a niece, Barbara Smith Brierton of Mt. Carroll; a great niece, Raegan Brierton of Mt. Carroll; a brother in-law, Gordon Smith of Mt. Carroll; and a sister in-law, Gladys Smith of Cambridge, Illinois. Betty is preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Maxine Smith; and a brother, Albert Smith.
