Arlo E. “Art” Daniels, age 69, of Green Island, Iowa, died on Monday, July 7, 2008, at his home in Green Island. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, July 14, 2008, at the Green Island Congregational Church in Green Island, with Reverend Iola McCutcheon officiating. Burial will follow in the Reeseville Cemetery in rural Miles, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 p.m., Sunday, July 13, 2008, at the Miller-Law-Jones Funeral Home in Preston. Art was born June 10, 1939, in Sabula, Iowa, the son of Leslie W. and Mavis M. (Baker) Daniels. He attended country schools in Miles, Iowa. Art married LouAnn G. Boock on January 18, 1964 at the Bellevue Presbyterian Church, Bellevue, Iowa. Art started working on the railroad at the age of sixteen. During his life he worked for over forty years on various railroads, retiring from the I & M Rail Link in 1999. He was also employed by the International Paper Company in Clinton, Iowa, for ten years. No one worked harder or loved their family more than Art.In his spare time, Art enjoyed spending time with his children, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. He especially loved going to his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events, dancing and playing cards with the “Clique”. Art was happiest being at home in Green Island, working on his yard and in the garden planting way too many tomatoes.Art will be dearly missed by his wife, LouAnn; three sons, Jeff (Marsheen) Daniels, Tim (Heather Chapman) Daniels, both of Clinton, Iowa and Lonnie Daniels of Preston, Iowa; two daughters, Lynette (David) Graham and Ami (Mark) Cramer, both of Clinton; twelve grandchildren, Rachel, Mikey, Chris, Karen, Maddison, Tristen, Mercedes, Payton, Bradley, Britta, Andrew, and Paige; three brothers, Milton (Marion) Daniels of Preston, Jerry (Bonnie) Daniels and Dale (Gayle) Daniels, both of Miles, Iowa; four sisters, Marilyn Williams and Beverly (Robert) Wylie, both of Maquoketa, Iowa, Myrna (Darrell) Kaczinski of Delmar, Iowa, and Judy (Dale) Pataska of Green Island; a brother in-law, Arnold Behn of Sabula, Iowa; three sisters in-law, Gloria Kaufman and Emily Daniels, both of Maquoketa, and Arlene Daniels of Green Island; and many nieces and nephews.Art is preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Doris Behn, Darlene Daniels and Karen Daniels; and four brothers; Clifford, Norbert, Donald, and Jack
