Clark Everett Nesbitt, 94, of Savanna, previously of Rockford, died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013, at Walnut Manor Nursing Home in Walnut, Illinois.
Clark was born June 25, 1918, in Savanna, the son of Arthur and Lucille (Clark) Nesbitt. He was a member of the class of 1936 at Savanna High School. He married Mary Goedecke. Mary passed away June 19, 1999.
He served his country in the Army as an X-ray technician during World War II. Clark owned and operated a Standard Oil station and Shell Oil station from 1957 to 1970 in Rockford. He graduated from Realtor’s Institute in Peoria and worked as a real estate broker and partner at Crown Realtors in Rockford from 1971 to 1981.
Clark attended the First United Methodist Church in Savanna. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge AF and AM 173 in Cherry Valley; Scottish Rite Consistory in Freeport; Tebala Shrine in Rockford; and Carroll County Shrine Club. He was a past member of the Rockford Moose Lodge. He enjoyed antique cars, fishing, hunting and photography.
Clark is survived by a brother-in-law, Al Goedecke of Hazelton, Pa.; and four cousins locally, Jonathan (Audrey) Nesbitt of Sterling, Michael (Carol) Nesbitt of Savanna, and Jerald (Camilla) Ritenour and Paul Ritenour, both of Preston, Iowa.
Clark was preceded in death by his wife, Mary; and his parents.
A Masonic service will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church in Savanna, followed by visitation from 10 to 11 a.m., and the funeral at 11 a.m. Military honors will be accorded by Savanna Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2223.
