Donald was born in Savanna, on September 4, 1943, the son of John and Dorothy (Ensch) Feuerhelm.  At the time of Donald’s birth, his father, John, had re-enlisted after the Pearl Harbor attack, and was serving in the Army during WWII.  His father returned from the war to meet Donald at the age of two.  Donald is a graduate of the Hanover High School with the Class of 1961.  On May 12, 1960, Donald married Karen Yount.  They celebrated forty-one years of marriage.  Karen passed away July 26, 2001.

Donald worked as a Certified Mechanic for Savanna Auto Center for over twenty years and then worked for Eaton Corp. in Hanover for twenty-four years.  He enjoyed traveling with his wife, Karen, to vacation at Reno or Las Vegas. He would travel to Louisiana to see his daughter and be a cajun temporarily.  He cherished his grandchildren and loved spending time with his son, Bob, teaching him to work on engines and just shooting “the bull.”  Donald also enjoyed stopping to see the guys in the afternoons at the Bootlegger.

Donald is survived by a son, Robert (Brenda Bawden) Feuerhelm of Hanover; a daughter, Debbie (Don) Brade of Tomball, Texas; four grandchildren, Kristin Brade, Angela (Randy) Chapman, Robert Feuerhelm, Jr. and John J. Feuerhelm; and a great granddaughter, Zoey Mae Chapman.  Donald is preceded in death by his wife and both parents.

Bobby and Debbie,

I'm so sorry to hear about your dad - I remember him and your mom so fondly.  The "good old days" in Hanover were often very good, and people like your parents made it that way.

To Bob and Debbie and Family,

Very sad to hear of Don's passing. I will remember him as an easygoing, soft spoken boss and a real master of all things mechanical, like his son.

RIP Donnie
