Irene M. Hebeler Obituary
Irene Mary Hebeler, age 85 of Thomson, Illinois, died on Monday, February 6, 2012 at Big Meadows Nursing Home, Savanna. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 10, 2012 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, Thomson, Illinois. Burial will take place in the Lower York Cemetery, Thomson. A visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m., Thursday, February 9, 2012 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, Thomson. A memorial fund has been established in Irene’s memory.
Irene was born on February 24, 1926, the daughter of Robert and Lucille (Monty) Spencer in Milledgeville, Illinois. Irene married Leonard E. Hebeler on June 16, 1945. Leonard died on January 14, 1981.
Irene was employed by Burgess Battery in Savanna for one year and later worked for the Eaton Corporation for twenty-two years before retiring. Irene enjoyed flower gardening, cooking and helping her daughter, Debra with daycare. Most of all, Irene loved spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Irene will be dearly missed by two sons, Jerry “Duke” (Carrie) Hebeler and Dennis (Mary) Hebeler, both of Thomson; two daughters, Sharon (Charles) Johnson of Savanna and Debra Johnson of Riverview, Illinois; eleven grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren and two brothers, Wilbert Spencer of Morrison, Illinois and Joseph (Lois) Spencer of Thomson.
Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard; two sons, Leonard “Toot” Hebeler and Richard Hebeler; one sister, Marguerite Beyer; and one brother, Merle Spencer.
