Thomas R. Veysey Obituary
Thomas Richard Veysey, age 75 of Elizabeth, Illinois, died on Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at the Stephenson Nursing Center, Freeport, Illinois. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at the Church of St. Mary, Elizabeth. Burial will take place at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 25, 2012 in All Saints Catholic Cemetery, Des Plaines, Illinois. A visitation will be held from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., Tuesday prior to the mass at the church. A memorial fund has been established.
Tom was born on May 24, 1936, the son of John and Margret Veysey in Chicago, Illinois. He married Gertrude O. Sibert on June 15, 1958 in Chicago, Illinois. She died on November 29, 2007.
Tom attended DePaul Academy High School and later attended Northern Illinois University, where he received his Masters in Business Administration and his Bachelors in Electrical Engineering. John was the national manager of distribution and development for the Beatrice Corporation. He was also a sales manager for the Rusty Jones Corporation and served as past President and C.E.O. of Diversified Dealer Services. Tom was involved with the Boy Scouts and enjoyed Ham Radio. He also enjoyed photography, traveling, camping, hiking, boating, fishing, and building mechanical and electrical devices.
Tom is survived by one son, John T. Veysey III and one grandson, John T. (Michele Sprecher) Veysey IV of Elizabeth. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Gertrude and one daughter, Francis Cunningham.
